Kintsugi is a wellness service specialising in post-traumatic growth. Trauma can be defined as an adversity that has a debilitating affect on a person.
Our approach is based upon the Kintsugi (Japanese ceramic) philosophy. Our Practitioners help clients make meaning from their experiences, focusing on recovery from adversity, and viewing difficult events as catalysts to build a happier and fulfilling life.
Setbacks like divorce, financial hardship, violence and family breakdown can have a devastating impact on a person’s wellness, but with support, that devastation can be directed into future growth.
Our professional team includes Psychologists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Nutritionists and all of which are registered with their respective professional body. Kintsugi Practitioners are available face-to-face in Queensland’s south-east or via Skype worldwide.

What is post-traumatic growth (PTG)?
PTG is the belief that a person can not only recover from an adverse event, but can flourish. Traumatic events can often be a catalyst, triggering people to consider their broader life philosophies and overall happiness. Whilst adverse events can be awful, it is absolutely possible to grow and strengthen your resolve. Kintsugi post-traumatic growth is focused on helping people do just that.
How long can it take to recover from a difficult event?
There is no ‘normal’ when it comes to recovery. Every person’s needs are unique depending on their life story to date, and their situation and personality. Its tempting to compare ourselves with others’ and become frustrated when we’re not making the progress we’d expect to see. During your free initial consultation we’ll talk to you about your expectations. Some prefer to be gentle in their approach no matter how long recovery takes, whereas others are limited in time and prefer a goal-oriented session. We’re here to help you connect to a practitioner that suits your style.
Where are you based?
We’re based in Brisbane and can offer services throughout south-east Queensland. Sessions are organised in public spaces, somewhere you feel safe and comfortable. Skype sessions are also available worldwide.
What are the costs?
Costs of our sessions vary depending on the type of therapy you’re seeking. Sessions with our Psychologists are in accordance to the Australia Psychological Society recommended fee schedules.
Are there rebates?
In some instances yes. If you’re a victim of crime or war veteran, government financial assistance may apply. Unfortunately medicare doesn’t yet offer rebates for sessions offered via Skype.
